MICHAEL BENENSON, MANAGING DIRECTOR

Michael is a New York State Licensed Nursing Home Administrator with over 35 years experience in management and health care strategy consulting. He holds a Masters Degree from the Roth Graduate School of Business, Long Island University. Michael serves as Executive Director of the Medford Hamlet ALP, is Chairman of the CareNext Insurance Company (a liability insurer), Chairman of the Sub Acute Network of New York, and is President of Benenson & Associates, Inc. (a strategic planning consultancy). Michael has been an advisor to groups, including the Moreland Act Commission on Nursing Homes and Residential Care Facilities, the Comprehensive Health Planning Agency, and the Advisory Council on Aging. He is published in over 25 books and periodicals on health care topics.

RICHARD FILASKI, MANAGING DIRECTOR

Richard has over 25 years of experience in the real estate development and construction fields. He holds an MBA in Finance and an MS in Real Estate Investment from New York University. Richard has been responsible for management of all facets of real estate development including site acquisition, planning and governmental review, deal structure and financing and construction. He has financed projects through various governmental agencies, including the U.S. Department of HUD, New York State HFA, New York State DHCR and IDA’s. He has also provided development services to large, not-for-profit sponsors in the New York Metropolitan area.

DAVID FILASKI, MANAGING DIRECTOR

David holds a Degree in Economics from Wake Forest University. He has over 20 years of experience in developing, financing, budgeting and constructing affordable senior housing, skilled nursing, and assisted living facilities in the New York metropolitan area. He has secured approvals for projects from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Renewal, New York State Department of Health, Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency and DHCR, among others. David is currently managing the finances of Medford Hamlet, a 200-bed, NYSDOH-licensed assisted living facility in Medford, New York. He also manages the finances of the real estate for a skilled nursing facility.

JOSHUA BENENSON, MANAGING DIRECTOR

Joshua has over 17 years of experience in the area of financial forecasting and modeling. He began his professional career in the hedge fund industry, where he was responsible for risk management and manager selection. He has worked on many health care budgets and forecasts, and has assisted in the financing of over twenty ambulatory surgery centers, as well as several other projects in the health care field. Joshua has managed the operations of Medford Hamlet since its opening. He holds a B.A in Economics, with an emphasis in Finance, from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

MARYANN CRENNY, ADMINISTRATOR/DIRECTOR, OPERATIONS

Maryann graduated from St. John’s University with a Bachelors degree in Social Work and has a Masters in Health Care Administration from Long Island University-CW Post. She has over 10 years of experience in nursing home administration, including long term, sub-acute and dementia care. Maryann has also developed and implemented a dialysis program, as well as a 40-bed dementia special care unit. She also serves as guest lecturer at CW Post University, preparing professionals for the NYS Nursing Home Administrator Licensure Exam. Currently, Maryann is the administrator of FilBen’s 200-bed ALP and oversees the assisted living operations of FilBen properties.

DENISE HOWARD, RN, DIRECTOR, OPERATIONS

Denise Howard, RN, MS is a Legal Nurse Consultant with a focus on long-term care and assisted living. She has more than 30 years of health care experience, with a core focus on long-term care, sub-acute care, short-term rehab and assisted living. Previously she was Vice President of Clinical Services for a premier network manager of SNF’s, specializing in providing sub-acute/short term care in New York and California. In addition to serving as FilBen’s clinical consultant, Denise coordinates program development, as well as the opening of FilBen’s health care facilities.

JESSICA COTELLESE, MANAGER, DEVELOPMENT

Jessica holds a Masters of Science degree in Interior Design from Pratt Institute, with a focus on healthcare design and management. She has worked as a designer on the renovation and construction of various residential and commercial projects, including independent senior housing and assisted living residences. Jessica is responsible for furniture, fixture and equipment, interior material selections, finish schedules as well as the purchasing and installation of those items. She also reviews and produces the interior drawings for FilBen projects and executes specifications for purchasing and/or bidding for all the above functions of the projects.

MHABELL MEDINA, MANAGER, OPERATIONS

Mhabell holds an A.S in Business Management with over 10 years experience in the healthcare industry. She joined the company from the Yale New Haven Hospital System. While with FilBen, Mhabell has been instrumental in setting up procedures within the business office. She has extensive experience in working with governmental agencies in billing capacities, and manages the accounts receivable and accounts payable departments as well. Mhabell’s knowledge of Medicaid billing and her ability to work with the local Social Security offices make her a valuable member of the FilBen team.
